Hey ladies and gents of the hair world! You know how connected we all are and you know how much we love extensions, whether we offer them or not, but none-the-less, please do me a huge favor and allow this blog to be a place of information for the many types of extensions on the market. Braidless extensions have become increasingly popular, as weave wearers around the world sign up for this service. I find the braidless techniques to be a great alternative to the traditional weaving services, as most (not all) techniques yeild great long lasting results when rendered by a trained professional. I've seen so many diffent forms so follow my blog as I uncover each of the diffent kinds of extensions out there. Im going to take you guys on a wonderful weave journey as my ten years of experience flow from my heart to my fingertips. I have so much passion for this industry and I really wanna see more worthy extension services. Poor technique and misinformed stylists have really given extensions a bad name. I dont know how many times I have heard a client say, "that fake hair took my hair out!" and I say, "No maam it was poor judgement on your stylists behalf to give you a head full of hair on hair that was obviously aready struggling. Not all extensions give hair the rest it needs. Stylist be sure your clients are likely candidates before offering an extension service. Ten year ago, my instructor told me that all money wasn't good money and boy was she right. Ok so you just made $250 from one client but in one week she's back with complaints. See, now was that some good money you made? I know a lot of stylist that would rather excuse themselves of this type of headache. Thats why keeping yourself informed on the lastest in hair care is so important. When you turn an extension client down make sure you help them understand how you arrived at your professional judgement and give them a complimentary regiment they can follow as they put the extensions on hold for a later date. Give them specifics about whats going on with their hair. If you dont know what it is you are looking at when you see damage, do be afraid to resort back to your cosmetology text book. Whatever you do, dont be general with the client because they will feel it. For the clients who are able to recieve extension services, inform them on the wear, upkeep, and removal of the hair. When offering extensions, a way to garauntee your work is to include the removal in your consult and final pricing. This will ensure that there will be minimal to no breakage. Removing hair at home on your own, as a client, can be so painstaking that its a great idea to just pay for the removal upfront. Theres a lot of prep work involved in extension services so you and your client/stylist must be on the same page.
