Shampooing your extensions!

Lots of ladies visit the salon for the intial installation and are able to maintain the extensions themselves, but for others, a bi-weekly appointment seems to work best to keep the extension service looking presentable. But I wanna give you ladies of GoesheHair a few tips to use as a guide when maintaining your look at home. First, it is important that you consider the type of hair you are shampooing, as silicon is used in some commercial hair. Shampooing with product that contain sulfate can work against and disrupt the silicon used by manufacturing companies to keep artificial hair blends looking smooth and shiny. I have found that using products that contain natural proteins are great for commerical hair, giving it a shiny and clean pallet without hair clumping together. I like to use the CHI Royal Treatment wetline to maintain my clients extensions. This product line is great when using commericial hair or virgin hair. No matter what hair you choose, dont go cheap when deciding on a shampoo and conditioner. It is important that you treat your extensions as your very own hair. Dry scalp can be an issue when wearing extensions so we suggest our clients to pre-treat the scalp using Seabreeze. With a cotton swab, gently apply the astringent solution to dry, itcy areas of the scalp. Allow the solution to sit for five minutes before shampooing with your favorithe clarifying shampoo. In my opinion,(and I do consider myself somewhat of an expert) its best to shampoo your extensions in the shower, keeping the flow of water in a downward motions, along the grain, or with cuticle of the hair shaft. Shampooing your hair while standing in the shower gives your hair and scalp a chance to be cleaned without compromising the quality of the extension service. Always consult with your extensionist if you have concerns when cleaning you hair. When in doubt, allow your extensionist to clean your extensions. Remember, this is a premium service and you dont want to waste your hard earned bucks trying to undergo a task thats far too much for you. But for the rest of you daring divas (who should probably be stylists too) I challenge you to give it a shot. After cleansing the hair, condition properly. Rinse thoroughly and apply a few drop of your favorite serum (mine is the Pearl Complex by CHI's Royal Treatment). Blowdry your hair in a downward motion, keeping control of the brush and blowdryer as you dry you hair. Lastly, use your favorite CHI Ceramic Iron to style the finish!! Hey yall I hope that helps. Im getting really excited about the industry and the growth and expansion of this blog so tell your friends and family about this blog and help me spread the knowledge of our hair!! for more info contact Zekia at 575-446-3743
